Music Jam Monday: January Favorites

Happy Monday! Today I’m going to talk about my January favorites. However, since school is being bad, this list is going to be pretty short because I’m already overwhelmed with work in the second week. Yay!

“Finesse” [Remix] by Bruno Mars feat. Cardi B

I love this song purely because of the video. It is such pure 90s content and continually brings me joy. I’d like to see more Bruno/Cardi collabs in the future.

Best lyric: “We out here dripping in finesse.”

“IDGAF” by Dua Lipa

This is the official Tide Pods music video. But seriously, I’ve been sleeping on Dua Lipa HARD. All of her songs are bops, including this one. And the video is fantastic (much better than eating detergent, anyway).

Best lyric: “‘Cause if you think I care about you now. Well, boy, I don’t give a fuck.”

“Forever” by Matt and Kim

I am so so so happy that Matt and Kim are making music again. This song is so cathartic and fun. You can really tell that they poured their hearts into it, and it is absolutely wonderful.

Best lyric: “If life is fair then you’re my cheat sheet.”

“The Good Side” by Troye Sivan

I cry a river every time I listen to this song. His performance on SNL was so moving and absolutely wonderful. You can tell how much this song means to him. I love it.

Best lyric: I’m sure we’ll meet in the spring and catch up on everything. I’ll say I’m proud of all that you’ve done.”

“Brooklyn Baby” by Lana Del Rey

I’ve been on a bit of a Lana kick recently, and I’ve been loving this song. The lyrics are great (I get down to beat poetry, anyone?), and I love the sultry mood.

Best lyric: “Yeah my boyfriend’s pretty cool, but he’s not as cool as me.”

What songs have you been listening to this January? Let me know down in the comments or over on Twitter!
